HEAD COACH JEFF WILSON
As third year Head Coach of the Lady Kangs, Jeff Wilson has taken the girls' basketball program to new heights–-2nd place in the 2020 3A State Championships, back-to-back KingCo Regular Season Champions, and back-to-back KingCo Tournament Champions! His energy, passion and positive attitude have established a culture for the program--the girls love the game while obviously yielding tremendous success. For his success, Jeff was named the 2020 Washington Interscholastic Activities Association's (WIAA) 3A Washington Coach of the Year (full season) and the Tournament 3A Coach of the Year. Last year, he was honored as the KingCo 2A/3A Coach of the Year. When he started as the Kang's coach he promised to change the culture (#CTC), which is exactly what he's done!
Jeff graduated from Edmonds Woodway in 2009. He had earned a NCAA Division 1 men's basketball scholarship when he was involved in an automobile crash which unfortunately ended his college career before it ever had a chance to begin. Being forced to rethink what his contribution to basketball would be, that fall he started coaching the 5th grade boys' feeder for Edmond Woodway High School. He coached those boys every year in both feeder and AAU programs before those players graduated high school last year.
For four years, Coach Wilson had dual coaching responsibilities as the coach of the Kings boys and the Blanchet girl’s feeder programs. The last several years, players from those teams have gone on to compete in and win state championships.
In spring 2010, Coach Wilson began coaching boy’s AAU basketball year-round and then later assisting with the girls’ teams. His job responsibilities included planning and running camps, and training individuals and groups. In the spring of 2013, he became the Varsity coach for the girls AAU team. Over the next 3 years, the girls in that program finished in the top 3 in 15 straight nationally ranked college viewing tournaments. Eight of the 10 girls from that team received full-ride college basketball scholarships. He has also coached and trained seven other girls that are currently playing college basketball.
Prior to the Lady Kangs, Coach Wilson ran the EWHS Junior Varsity girls team for two years.

JUNIOR VARSITY COACH JENNIFER “JENN” SORENSEN
Jenn was raised in Buckley, WA where she later played Varsity for 4 years under the head coach, Chris Gibson, at White River High School – Class of 2006. After high school, Jenn continued playing basketball for Tacoma Community College for two years and then went on to continue playing at Pacific Lutheran University, as well as looked to further her studies in Physical Therapy. She finished her education with a Sport Management degree from Concordia of Chicago - Online.
13 years ago (beginning in her senior year of high school), Jenn became involved with coaching at NBC Camps in Auburn. From there, she helped coordinate a 4-on-4 league in Puyallup for Force Basketball, coached at a couple local area Puyallup schools, and trained players on the side. She coached AAU for Clutch Basketball in Tacoma for the last 3 years, before accepting the LWHS job.
She attributes her love for coaching from the mentoring she's received from her family and plenty of notable coaches/trainers along the way – that and it helps fill the void of not playing anymore! Giving back, mentoring and seeing each player mature on and off the court are the main reasons why she loves coaching. The relationships that are built through sports are some of the most invaluable lessons that she has learned through her playing days and even more so through coaching. Jenn’s biggest beliefs are broken down into three F’s – Faith, Family, Fun!
Jenn’s excited for her first year being a part of the Kangs’ coaching staff and bringing experience, energy, and encouragement to the JV and Varsity squads.
